How It All Works—the Document Development Process

Once you have purchased a curriculum vitae or cover letter, here is the sequence of events which will follow: Assessment, Consultation, Construction, Approval, and Conclusion. Our fully comprehensive process has been specifically designed to help you get the most from your Package, and to ensure that your new CV (and/or cover letter) truly reflects those aspects of your experience, achievements, skills, and character that will render you an appealing job applicant for prospective employers. Read on for an in-depth examination of each stage.

Stage 1—Assessment
As soon as you have placed an order with us, you will gain instant access to our CV Creation Centre, where you can upload your current curriculum vitae (if available) and provide us with a detailed self assessment of your key strengths and career history. N.B. Please do not close your browser after you have paid; instead, simply wait to be redirected to the Creation Centre. If nothing happens, just click on the link marked 'Return to CV Ireland'.

If you do not plan to complete the questionnaire in the Creation Centre straight away, add it to your Favourites or Bookmarks so you can easily return to it later on. It is not possible to submit information using the CV Creation Centre without first entering your Transaction ID—the long number contained in your PayPal e-mail receipt.

Stage 2—Consultation
The 10 'working day' deadline for electronic delivery of your draft CV (or 5 days for CV Express) is set on the same day we receive all of the information necessary to begin work on your order. You will be sent an e-mail stating that your order is underway, and shortly after will be contacted by your assigned CV Specialist to schedule an appropriate date and time to hold your telephone consultation of up to an hour (no time limit is applicable to Gold Package customers).

The consultation follows an interview style question-and-answer format. You will first be asked to verify the post you wish to target—your career objective—and to describe the core skills and personal qualities which make you an ideal candidate. A discussion of your employment history will dominate the remainder of the consultation, and focus on drawing out additional information not mentioned during the initial self-assessment phase. For example, if in the CV Creation Centre you write, 'Secured a large contract with a major supplier in line with operational and strategic aims,' then your CV Specialist is likely to ask, 'What was the contract for? Who was it with? What was it valued at? What operational and strategic aims did it address?'

Stage 3—Construction
Following the telephone consultation, your CV Specialist will compose the first draft of your new curriculum vitae, sending it to you in Adobe PDF—a format which will give you a solid idea of how the document will look on paper.

Stage 4—Approval
If you are satisfied with the contents of your new CV, you can approve the document by sending a confirmation e-mail to your Specialist. Alternatively, you might suggest amendments for introduction in a second draft. Please try to be as unambiguous as possible regarding the alterations you would like to see e.g. 'Replace that sentence with this sentence.' You can continue requesting fresh drafts until you are entirely delighted with the end result.

It is important to note that, unlike the text of your document, your curriculum vitae's layout cannot be altered at this stage. For this reason, we recommend that you thoroughly review our CV Styles prior to selecting a design.

Stage 5—Conclusion
Approving your draft CV via a confirmation e-mail brings your order to a close. Your CV Specialist will forward the final version to you in PDF and Microsoft Word, and schedule the hard copies for printing and delivery by post.
